This role provides senior academic project leadership to support the rollout of Block Delivery at Level 7 and the preparation for future implementation at undergraduate level, ensuring consistency, academic rigour and effective governance during a period of major curricula change. This is a key role supporting the University&rsquo;s Knowledge Exchange ambitions, with responsibility for two strategic portfolios: Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) and Research Commercialisation (spin-outs and IP licensing).&nbsp;</p><p>The main purpose of the role is to facilitate the successful delivery, growth and governance of these portfolios by developing contractual agreements, supporting collaboration between academic and external partners, and ensuring high-quality project management and stakeholder engagement across a complex and fast-paced environment.</p><p>You will act as a central point of contact for KTP projects, working closely with company partners, academic staff, KTP Associates, Innovate UK and other stakeholders to deliver an efficient, professional and customer-focused support service. Alongside this, you will play a pivotal role in progressing the University&rsquo;s intellectual property pipeline, supporting opportunities through to spin-out formation or licensing agreements, and contributing to REF and KEF outcomes.</p><p><strong>Anticipated interview date:</strong> Wednesday 12th August 2026</p><h2>About You</h2><p data-pasted="true">We are looking for a highly organised and proactive professional who can confidently manage a varied portfolio of activity and build strong relationships across academic, commercial and external stakeholder groups.</p><p>You will be educated to degree level (or have equivalent professional experience) and bring a solid understanding of the collaborative research and development funding landscape, including the role of organisations such as Innovate UK. Experience of working within or alongside university or funding body submission processes, and coordinating collaborative projects, will be essential to success in this role.</p><p>You will have excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects at different stages while working to strict deadlines. This exciting initiative is the first of its kind in Derby and forms part of the nationally recognised National Saturday Club programme.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The Club will provide a unique learning experience for young people aged 13&ndash;16, with a focus on exploring themes of Society and Change. The role directly supports the University of Derby&rsquo;s commitment to civic engagement, community partnership, and public engagement, contributing to the University&#39;s wider Civic Strategy and goals.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, development and delivery of the programme, including creating schemes of work and lesson plans, developing learning resources, procuring materials, organising educational visits (including trips to London), and overseeing the day-to-day management of the Club and its members. An important core aspect of the role will involve the support of surveying activities and field trips. This will include the operation, maintenance, and demonstration of surveying technologies such as robotic total stations, Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers, terrestrial laser scanners, and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), you will also support the processing, management, and presentation of survey data, producing outputs aligned with current industry standards.</p><h2>About You</h2><p style="margin-left:0cm;" data-pasted="true">You will hold qualification(s) equivalent to a degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or a related discipline, or possess comparable knowledge and transferable skills gained through relevant professional experience. The ideal candidate will have significant specialist technical experience within civil engineering, including surveying or site-based measurement activities, preferably gained within an industrial, research, or educational environment. You will be proficient in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of a wide range of surveying equipment, including total stations, GNSS/GPS equipment, digital levels, laser scanners, and associated data-logging devices. You will therefore also have the ability to train and supervise students and researchers in the correct and safe use of equipment.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">You will have a solid understanding of structural engineering principles, geotechnics and fluid mechanics relating to civil engineering applications.
