About the Role

As a Digital Delivery Coordinator, you’ll be the organisational heartbeat of our technical delivery teams — keeping projects moving, information flowing and activity running smoothly across a busy digital environment. You’ll plan and track work, manage dependencies, coordinate technical resources and ensure documentation, reporting and governance are always sharp, accurate and audit-ready.

You’ll work across multiple technical workstreams, supporting deployments, testing phases, supplier activity and day-to-day operations. You won’t manage people, but you’ll influence widely — driving clarity, shaping meetings, escalating risks early and helping senior technical leads make informed decisions. This role is a brilliant launchpad into digital delivery or technical coordination. You’ll gain exposure to infrastructure, applications, data, service management and supplier engagement, building a strong foundation for future progression in a modern, ambitious digital department. This is a fast-paced, varied role where your organisation, communication and problem-solving skills will make a visible difference from day one.

About You

The ideal candidate will be a highly organised and proactive professional with a proven ability to coordinate complex technical and digital delivery activities across multiple concurrent workstreams. You will excel in fast-paced environments, confidently managing competing priorities, identifying risks early, and ensuring projects remain on track through effective planning, communication, and follow-through.

With experience working throughout the technical delivery lifecycle; including deployments, testing phases, and change control processes; you will understand how to support successful delivery while maintaining accuracy and governance. You will be comfortable collaborating with technical teams, suppliers, and a broad range of stakeholders, translating complex information into clear documentation, actionable plans, and meaningful management reports.

A strong communicator with excellent Microsoft 365 skills, you will be able to produce insightful dashboards and management information that enable senior stakeholders to make informed decisions. Detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and highly structured in your approach, you will bring clarity and consistency to delivery environments, helping teams work more efficiently and effectively.

Technical Services

Technical Services at the University of Derby underpins the key activities of teaching, research, knowledge transfer and innovation. As an applied University we value the importance of practical work and experimental learning. Our highly skilled Technicians from across all areas of the organisation have a vital part they play in delivering the very best student experience, developing research activity and contributing to innovation. Central to the success of our Technical Service is collaboration, teamwork and knowledge sharing.

Technical colleagues support a wide range of specialist resources across the College of Science and Engineering. Working independently and in collaboration with academics, our technicians play an important role in advancing the work in many of our academic disciplines. We support specialist areas such as laboratories, workshops and controlled environments. We also provide specialist support for Research Centres such as the Institute for Innovation in Sustainable Engineering (IISE), East Midlands Institute of Technology (EMIOT) and the Nuclear Skills Academy (NSA).

Many of our highly skilled technical staff members hold PhDs and Degrees in disciplines associated with the specialisms they deliver. About the Role

You will support and develop practical related activities for the engineering technician apprenticeship scheme. Working across level 3, level 4 and level 6 programmes within the Skills Academy, with a particular emphasis on emphasis on welding processes and techniques, within a mechanical engineering context.

Working closely with academics and members of technical team, you will provide specialist support relating to machine shop activities. Working across several laboratories with a high degree of autonomy, and providing additional technical support across the academy as required.

You will be part of our technical team responsible for the maintenance, operation and safety of college equipment. Able to provide full technical support to apprentice students and staff, including training and advice on the appropriate use of resources.

This role is employed by University of Derby but works in partnership with Rolls-Royce Submarines Ltd. Due to the nature of work that Rolls-Royce Submarines Ltd conducts and the protection of certain assets, some roles within the Nuclear Skills Academy (NSA) require post-holders to hold Security Clearance (SC). 

This role does not currently require SC clearance, and this will not be a condition of appointment to this role. However, please be aware that there may be a future requirement for the successful candidate/s to undertake a SC check should any change in circumstances render this necessary due to development of the NSA over the coming years. 

About You

We are looking for a practical and safety-focused professional with hands-on experience in welding processes and techniques. The ideal candidate will have a strong awareness of Health and Safety standards and be skilled in preparing, maintaining, and repairing equipment and resources effectively.

You should be confident in demonstrating tasks and processes to individuals and small groups, with excellent face-to-face communication skills. The role requires a proactive team player who can contribute positively to the team while effectively managing their workload to meet deadlines and targets with minimal supervision.

The School of Engineering and Built Environment at the University of Derby is a dynamic and future-focused academic community that blends technical excellence with creative innovation. About the Role

Technical colleagues within the College of Science and Engineering support a wide range of specialist resources and activities. Working independently and in collaboration with academics, our technicians play an important role in advancing the work in many of our academic disciplines. We support specialist areas such as laboratories, workshops and controlled environments. You will contribute to laboratory and field-based learning across core civil engineering disciplines, including surveying, structural engineering, geotechnics, and fluid mechanics. Responsibilities will include maintenance, demonstrating technical procedures, preparing equipment and experimental setups, and supporting the delivery of practical classes and fieldwork. An important core aspect of the role will involve the support of surveying activities and field trips. This will include the operation, maintenance, and demonstration of surveying technologies such as robotic total stations, Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers, terrestrial laser scanners, and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), you will also support the processing, management, and presentation of survey data, producing outputs aligned with current industry standards.

About You

You will hold qualification(s) equivalent to a degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or a related discipline, or possess comparable knowledge and transferable skills gained through relevant professional experience. The ideal candidate will have significant specialist technical experience within civil engineering, including surveying or site-based measurement activities, preferably gained within an industrial, research, or educational environment. You will be proficient in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of a wide range of surveying equipment, including total stations, GNSS/GPS equipment, digital levels, laser scanners, and associated data-logging devices.

You will have a solid understanding of structural engineering principles, geotechnics and fluid mechanics relating to civil engineering applications. This includes experience supporting laboratory or field-based activities, assisting with the preparation and assembly of test setups and data analysis.

A Full UK Driving License (manual) is essential for this role as you will be required to drive the University of Derby vehicles; and hired vehicles (up to 3.5 tonne) to transport equipment between sites. Please note that we are unable to offer adapted vehicles. There is a requirement to load and unload equipment, typically with a maximum weight up to 50kg, with shared lifting processes.

About the Role

Our Professional Skills Instructor/Mentors support the development of professional skills, practical, technical, vocational, and associated learning for students and apprentices and, where necessary, support their individual learning needs and progress; monitoring both in the workplace, on placement, at alternative venues, on College/University premises or online. This includes supporting teaching, learning, and assessment, and the provision of work and learning mentoring and coaching. Your role will be to work with our academic teams to support our students develop to their full potential.
