This involves managing and maximising the University&rsquo;s financial resources while providing expert financial advice and support to the wider University community. Through these activities, we provide assurance to the University community around the financial health and efficiency of the University, supporting its mission and operation.</p><h2>About the Role</h2><p>This role sits in the University&rsquo;s centralised core Procurement team within Finance, which collectively supports a devolved purchasing activity at the Kedleston Road, Derby main campus and across two other campuses at Buxton and Chesterfield. &nbsp;</p><p id="isPasted">The Assistant Category Specialist role will work as part of the category led strategic procurement function, supporting the procurement categories with a high annual spend, and supporting a robust, fit for purpose category management approach that embraces our core values, drives sustainable business practice and delivers best value to the University and our partners.&nbsp;</p><p>The Assistant Category Specialist will conduct supply and market analysis, support and deliver tender activities, manage a small portfolio of preferred suppliers including supplier onboarding, resolving and escalated supplier issues to delivering category savings, input and support category sourcing strategies, projects, contract management for other areas on an ad hoc basis and play an active role in communicating departmental strategies and best practices.&nbsp;</p><h2 id="isPasted">About You</h2><p>You&rsquo;ll be a central contributor to a collaborative, forward thinking team committed to excellence and the University&rsquo;s core values. From creating all messaging and content for external campaigns and our website, to social media, and managing events &ndash; ours is a highly complex and expert marketing, PR and Internal Comms environment, key to making the University shine.</p><p id="isPasted"><strong>Events&nbsp;</strong></p><p>Events are an integral part of the University of Derby and help to continually develop our profile and reputation, generate commercial income and offer opportunities to staff, students and external visitors to engage further with us. The Events team lead on the organisation and delivery of all high-profile University events, including our Open Days and other recruitment events, University Court and inaugural lectures.&nbsp;</p><h2>About the Role</h2><p id="isPasted">We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and creative individual who has a genuine passion for marketing and delivering high-quality events.</p><p>The Events team is part of Student Recruitment team in the External Relations Department and supports the University&rsquo;s strategic objectives relating to Undergraduate Student Recruitment and raising the University&rsquo;s profile, reputation and impact locally, nationally and internationally.&nbsp;</p><p>The team has responsibility for the planning and delivery of a full and varied annual events programme, with a focus on delivering high quality events that have high impact. These include open days, schools and colleges visits, conferences, events hosted by the Vice-Chancellor, community events, inaugural/guest lectures, virtual events and many others.</p><p>The post holder, along with other Marketing Officers in the team will also work with the Communications Team to develop a robust events promotional and communication plans to ensure that attendance targets are met, and that the attendee and their guests receive the highest customer service&nbsp;and providing a seamless customer journey.</p><p>Occasional weekend, evening and flexible working will be required.</p><h2>About You</h2><p>You&rsquo;ll be someone who enjoys creating positive experiences for others and has a genuine interest in marketing and events. With experience in delivering a range of events, in-person and digital and you feel confident coordinating multiple projects and working with different teams to make things run smoothly.</p><p>You communicate clearly, stay organised, and bring a calm, proactive approach to busy periods. You&rsquo;re comfortable writing engaging copy, building good relationships, and using tools like CRM systems to support your work.</p><p>Creativity, attention to detail, and a willingness to adapt are all qualities that will help you thrive in this role. Generally being the first interaction our customers and visitors will have with us, the service they receive will shape their experience.&nbsp;</p><h2>About the Role</h2><p id="isPasted">As a Security Controller, you&rsquo;ll play a key role in ensuring the safety and security of our students, staff, and facilities across the University of Derby. Based within our 24/7 Control Room at the Kedleston Road campus, you&rsquo;ll coordinate all aspects of security operations, from incident response and monitoring CCTV systems to directing on-site teams and liaising with external agencies when required.</p><p>You&rsquo;ll act as the central point of contact for all planned and reactive security activity, ensuring a professional, efficient and customer-focused service at all times. This is a fast-paced and varied role where no two days are the same &ndash; requiring quick thinking, sound judgement, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.</p><p>The full-time working hours for this role are 42 hours per week, working a 4 on 4 off pattern. The shifts are 12 hours (07:00 to 19:00 and 19:00 to 07:00), with a 24/7 rota in place. The salary advertised includes a 20% shift allowance.</p><p><em>Please Note: On appointment, the job title will be &quot;Operations Controller&quot;.</em></p><h2>About You</h2><p id="isPasted">You&rsquo;ll bring proven experience from a control room or security operations environment, with strong situational awareness and the confidence to take the lead during incidents. You&rsquo;ll have excellent communication and organisational skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to make quick, effective decisions when it matters most.</p><p>You&rsquo;ll be comfortable using CCTV, radio, and access control systems, as well as maintaining accurate records and reports. A customer-focused mindset and the ability to handle sensitive or challenging situations with professionalism are essential.</p><p>You&rsquo;ll hold GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English, along with a full, clean UK driving licence.
