About the Role

The Psychology subject area is home to the University's Psychology and Counselling and Psychotherapy provision, delivered at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. As a TEF Gold institution, we are proud to contribute high quality programmes grounded in psychological and behavioural science with a significant focus on applied psychology and professional practice. We provide a large accredited provision across several Professional and Statutory Regulatory Bodies (including the BACP, BABCP, NCPS, BPS, HCPC and CIEHF). Our programmes provide undergraduate underpinnings and initial postgraduate training in humanistic counselling, integrative counselling and psychotherapy and cognitive behavioural psychotherapy, as we as training towards careers across the psychological professions. We further support student progression into careers across sectors such as marketing, business, management and leadership (and many more). In Psychology our provision is underpinned by excellent student support to achieve the best possible outcomes for our students and high quality progression opportunities into a range of careers. Our delivery is further underpinned by high quality scientific research and scholarly activity, with industry informed and based research at the forefront of curriculum developments to ensure programmes are meeting the needs of employers to foster the success of our graduates from across the subject.

We are excited to offer a permanent part time (0.5FTE) post to support the delivery of our growing BACP accredited provision in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy and wider counselling and psychotherapy programmes. As a Lecturer in Counselling and Psychotherapy you will contribute to the delivery of modules and wider activity that form part of the undergraduate and postgraduate portfolio across the Psychology subject area. Our provision is delivered mainly on campus although there may be some requirement for online delivery. Objectives of the post holder will be to contribute to the delivery of excellence in teaching across the portfolio, and to contribute to achievement of the highest outcomes for our students through excellent teaching and student support.

Psychology has an active research agenda and growing research profile. Our research portfolio in counselling and psychotherapy is growing; you will be expected to develop your research portfolio and engage with and/or support financially sustainable research and/or other appropriate academic and scholarly activity. There is support available for developing practice-based research which will further support your contribution to the development of industry integrated and research led curriculum. 

The role will include supporting our marketing events (e.g., open days) and outreach (e.g., school visits) which occasionally take place into evenings and at weekends. We do support hybrid working as business needs permit and in agreement with the Subject Lead.

About the discipline

Secondary and Post-14 and FES Initial Teacher Training Education (ITTE) at the University of Derby equips future educators with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to thrive in diverse teaching environments. Our programmes are designed for those preparing to teach across secondary schools and Post-14 FES training settings, combining academic study with extensive placement opportunities. We have close partnerships with local, regional and national colleges that form part of our Delivery Partner family for the QTS programmes. 

Our international reach is growing through a substantial portfolio of programmes - both for ITT/E and for continuing professional development for qualified teachers, globally. We are very much one ITT/E team and so work across age phases is not uncommon, particularly for Assessment Only, L6 Teacher Apprenticeships and the PGCE (non-QTS).

Our home trainees on this programme, specialise in subject areas relevant to secondary education while also developing broader teaching skills that enable them to engage, inspire, and support learners in a wide variety of educational contexts beyond compulsory schooling.

We expect excellence in all we do and are currently graded as Ofsted 'outstanding' in every age phase of ITT/E. 

About the Role

The main purpose of this role is to support the programme leader for the Secondary PGCE with QTS (Provider-Led, School-Based) in the delivery, monitoring and evaluation of the programme across the academic year.

Working closely with all seven Delivery Partners, you will ensure that the high-quality enactment of our curriculum leads to positive outcomes for the pupils in those schools we serve. You will be central to the training and development of our beginning teachers as they move through the programme.

Robust monitoring and evaluation processes underpin our quality assurance practices, and so you will be instrumental in making sure that the programme delivery and trainee experience are consistently high. Highly effective relationships with our school-based partners are key to our success, and so strong interpersonal skills and knowledge of each setting are fundamental to the role.

This is a school-based programme and so a good amount of your teaching will also include working on the PGCE (non-QTS) programme with our SCITT partners. As such, secure levels of digital pedagogy are required.

About You

As a highly experienced, secondary qualified teacher and/or leader, you will bring a strong understanding of contemporary challenges faced by teachers, leaders and learners in schools. School of Engineering and Built Environment 

The School of Engineering and Built Environment at the University of Derby is a dynamic and future-focused academic community that blends technical excellence with creative innovation. It offers a wide range of programmes across electrical and electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, nuclear engineering, motorsport engineering and entertainment engineering and built environment, preparing students to tackle global challenges in Artificial intelligence, robotics, sustainability and net-zero.

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable individual to join our team as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the continued success and development of our Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) provision, while supporting the wider Engineering discipline within the College of Science and Engineering.

The successful candidate will need to integrate into existing team and contribute to the School’s teaching, research and innovation activities. You will need to produce high quality research outputs, to develop collaborative research initiatives, and to secure external fundings, and deliver high-quality teaching in EEE related modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

A distinctive feature of this role is the opportunity to contribute to the University's growing portfolio of transnational education (TNE) partnerships. As part of our flying faculty model, you will be required to deliver programmes at international partner institutions. This will involve overseas travel, including periods of up to six weeks per visit and multiple trips throughout the academic year, to fulfil teaching and academic support commitments. The timing and frequency of travel will vary according to operational requirements. In addition to teaching overseas, you will have the opportunity to develop international academic and research collaborations and to enhance the University's global engagement and reputation. Initially this will be to support a partner institution in China. About You

We are seeking a passionate Lecturer in Forensic Science to inspire the next generation of industry leaders. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of high-quality teaching, curriculum development, and research within their specialist field. You will deliver engaging and innovative teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, support student learning and development, and contribute to the School's research and enterprise activities. About You

We are seeking an enthusiastic and forward-thinking academic with a strong foundation in Forensic Science. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of academic expertise and industry insight, with a passion for delivering high-quality, student-centred learning and contributing to impactful research and enterprise activity. You will hold a good honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, alongside subject-specific expertise. A PhD (or near completion), or equivalent professional achievement, is essential, as well as Fellowship of the HEA or a willingness to achieve this. The successful candidate will have proven experience in developing and delivering modules or programmes in Forensic Science and its various specialisms, with strong practical capabilities to support student learning, and a track record of research activity in a relevant area.
