Training and development

In a competitive and ever-changing market, continuous development for all staff is crucial for both our overall performance as a university and to help our staff maximise their own potential.

The Organisation and People Development (OPD) team co-ordinate a programme of training opportunities open to all staff, alongside specific development for groups of staff such as Leadership and Management training and Central Induction events for new staff members.

Local Recognition Scheme

To recognise the efforts of staff members who go the extra mile to meet deadlines or help colleagues, the Local Recognition Scheme gives managers the opportunity to highlight and reward their dedication.

Designed to support and complement our other reward schemes, managers can give out £10 High Street vouchers which can be spent in hundreds of shopping outlets throughout the UK.

Staff awards

We also celebrate staff achievement with two award ceremonies held every year: the Excellence Awards, which reward and recognise innovation or achievement, and the Loyalty Awards, which is our way of saying a special 'thank you' to those who have been with us for more than 20 years.
