We host a large accredited provision across several Professional and Statutory Regulatory Bodies (including the CIEHF, BABCP, BACP, NCPS, BPS and HCPC). Programmes range from undergraduate underpinnings and initial postgraduate training for some psychological professions, to delivery that supports careers in sectors such as marketing, business, management and leadership (and many more). We are looking for someone to join our ergonomics team to support the delivery of our ergonomics provision. The role holder will contribute to the academic leadership and delivery of modules on our MSc Ergonomics and Human Factors (with pathways), support supervision of student research projects and and to the research profile of the Psychology Subject area, including applied Ergonomics and Human Factors research.</p><p>As we develop and grow our ergonomics and human factors provision, this role will include oversight, leadership and development of our online programmes, working with the Subject lead, senior academics and the wider teaching team to ensure continuation of excellent student experience and outcomes. There are also opportunities to contribute to the psychology provision and other areas that align with your area of expertise. We are passionate about inspiring and empowering our graduates in their future careers in a range of destinations, within industry, academia or other progression routes. The Research Assistant will contribute to literature reviews, data collection and management, and qualitative and/or quantitative data analysis. Core duties include supporting the preparation of research outputs such as reports and publications, maintaining accurate research records, assisting with ethical and administrative requirements, and collaborating with the research team to ensure the project is completed on time and to a high academic standard.</p><p><strong>The anticipated interview date is Thursday 18th June 2026.</strong></p><p>Please note that this is a 0.2 FTE (7.4 hours per week) fixed term contract for 2 months.</p><h2>About You</h2><p>We are seeking a detail-oriented Research Assistant to support a project funded by the British Academy. Working independently and in collaboration with academics, our technicians play an important role in advancing the work in many of our academic disciplines. We support specialist areas such as laboratories, workshops and controlled environments. We also provide specialist support for Research Centres such as the Institute for Innovation in Sustainable Engineering (IISE), East Midlands Institute of Technology (EMIOT) and the Nuclear Skills Academy (NSA).</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">You will contribute to laboratory and field-based learning across core civil engineering disciplines, including surveying, structural engineering, geotechnics, and fluid mechanics. Responsibilities will include maintenance, demonstrating technical procedures, preparing equipment and experimental setups, and supporting the delivery of practical classes and fieldwork. An important core aspect of the role will involve the support of surveying activities and field trips. This will include the operation, maintenance, and demonstration of surveying technologies such as robotic total stations, Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers, terrestrial laser scanners, and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), you will also support the processing, management, and presentation of survey data, producing outputs aligned with current industry standards.</p><h2>About You</h2><p style="margin-left:0cm;" data-pasted="true">You will hold qualification(s) equivalent to a degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or a related discipline, or possess comparable knowledge and transferable skills gained through relevant professional experience. The ideal candidate will have significant specialist technical experience within civil engineering, including surveying or site-based measurement activities, preferably gained within an industrial, research, or educational environment. You will be proficient in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of a wide range of surveying equipment, including total stations, GNSS/GPS equipment, digital levels, laser scanners, and associated data-logging devices.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">You will have a solid understanding of structural engineering principles, geotechnics and fluid mechanics relating to civil engineering applications. This includes experience supporting laboratory or field-based activities, assisting with the preparation and assembly of test setups and data analysis.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">A Full UK Driving License (manual) is essential for this role as you will be required to drive the University of Derby vehicles; and hired vehicles (up to 3.5 tonne) to transport equipment between sites. The role is to carry out cleaning duties which include areas such as, the teaching kitchens, classrooms, toilet facilities, offices, etc as well as other accommodation, owned, leased or rented by the University located in the Buxton campus. &nbsp; The role will also include some low level work from Step ladders or working platforms. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p>Please note this is a part time role; 30 hours per week. The role acts as the senior subject matter expert for Estates compliance, advising on emerging risks and regulatory change.</p><p data-start="736" data-end="1132">The role includes hands-on operational leadership, with responsibility for asbestos and radon management, statutory building engineering services compliance, contractor management and permit-to-work systems, and health and safety assurance relating to construction and property activities. The post holder will provide cover for key technical roles when required to maintain statutory compliance.</p><p data-start="1134" data-end="1510">You will lead a specialist team, including line management of the Fire Safety Manager and Asbestos Manager, and lead on the Safe Place University Health, Safety and Wellbeing Committee. You will take the lead on email creative development, producing reusable, modular templates and ensuring all output meets brand, accessibility and best-practice standards.</p><p>Alongside email development, you will support wider digital design activity across social, web and campaign channels, working closely with colleagues in Design, Content and Student Recruitment to deliver integrated, user-focused creative. You will manage an email marketing platform, carry out quality assurance and testing, and use insight and performance data to continually improve engagement.</p><p>This is a hands-on role with no direct line management responsibilities, but you will act as a subject expert, providing advice and support to colleagues. From 1st August 2026, our Osteopath programme will be part of the School of Health, Sport, and Rehabilitation. As part of our provision, the School runs an osteopathic clinic. The clinic is primarily operated by students, who are supervised by academic and instructor/mentor staff.&nbsp;</p><p>The team are committed to providing a safe, supportive, and high-quality clinical learning environment, as well as excellent patient care while helping students develop the knowledge, skills, and professional behaviours required for osteopathic practice. Working collaboratively, the team supports students to build confidence and competence through supervised clinical experience with members of the public who access care through the university clinic.</p><h2>About the Role</h2><p>This role will support the clinical education of osteopathy students within the Derby University Osteopathy Clinic by providing mentorship, guidance, and oversight during patient consultations. There is also the potential to support sport therapy students within the Derby University Sport Therapy Clinic. The role holder will observe student practice, provide timely feedback to support the development of clinical reasoning, professional behaviours, and treatment planning, and help foster a safe and supportive learning environment. This role will work alongside academic staff to help maintain high standards of patient care by monitoring clinical activity, reinforcing clinic protocols, and escalating any concerns where appropriate. Through their presence in clinic sessions, the role will enhance the consistency and quality of student supervision, support the development of student confidence and competence, and contribute to the effective and safe operation of the clinic.</p><p>This role is a fixed term contract for 24 months.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;" data-pasted="true"><em>This role is a full-time position of 37 hours a week, however we would welcome applications from candidates who wish to be considered on a part time or job share basis. Please indicate in your application your preference of days and/or hours you would be available to work.</em></p><h2>About You</h2><p>You will be an experienced and registered Osteopathic practitioner with a strong commitment to supporting the development of future professionals. You will have the ability to guide and mentor students in a clinical environment, offering constructive feedback that supports the development of safe, effective, and reflective practice. You will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build positive relationships with students, patients, and academic colleagues. A sound understanding of professional standards, clinical governance, and patient safety will be essential, along with the ability to model high standards of professional behaviour in practice. You will be supportive, approachable, and committed to creating a safe and inclusive learning environment where students can develop confidence and competence in their clinical skills.
